La-La land Angel Marci

Had a few hours in the craft room today so out came the copics and designer paper and the Zutter which hasn't been used as much as it should be!!

I made a little notepad using La-la Land digi stamp Angel Marci - I coloured her in with copics, added some stickles to her wings and her dress, printed her out again and cut round the dress and glued it to the image.  Created a simple background for her to be mounted on and here it is.....

I am adding her to the following challenges

Julie Nutting time

Had a lovely week off - weather has been fantastic so not an awful lot of crafting was done.  However I was able to have a little time playing with the Julie Nutting stamps.  Andrew my work colleague tends to save me all sorts of plastic, bags and packaging from the I.T equipment we get in the office and this time he handed me some scraps of MDF - yeayyyy just perfect!!  So I set to!.  This Julie Nutting stamp has been coloured in with Copic pens and the paper piecing has had a little shading added.  The background paper has been stencilled over distress inks over the flower stencil by Creative Crafters.  The designer paper, doily and flowers are all from The Hobby House.

Stampotique - Anything but a card

Hmm not sure where the original post to this has gone!!  It published (or so I thought)!!

Over at Stampotique the challenge has been set by the ultra talented Nellie - Anything but a card'.  Here is what Nellie has to say about her theme......

When I participate in challenges, escpecially when I’m short of time, I tend to make cards. They are usually a quick and easy thing to make. So this week I challenge you (and myself) to make ANYTHING BUT A CARD for the Stampotique designer’s challenge. I made a double journalpage in my little artjournal. I’m very curious to see what you come up with!

With work being so busy at the moment I decided to make a quick notepad.  I first stamped Vintage Postcard (8115) onto a piece of smooth cardstock with Brown Memento ink.  Distressed the edges with Vintage Photo, stamped around the edge with Leaf (3024) in Green Memento Ink, added Medium Bee (3000) and here it is.....

Stampotique Challenge - Incorporating an Envelope

Its that time again for a new challenge over at Stampotique and this weeks theme of  'incorporating an envelope' has been set by the very talented Valerie - here is what Valerie has to say about her challenge.

I love the idea of using every day objects for art. I would like us to try creating an art project that incorporates an envelope - any shape or size, new or used. You can flip, fold, score, tear, ink, paint, stamp, doodle, embellish or keep it clean and simple - just have fun!

I decided to use an old A3 envelope that I found at work  - I made a tag and envelope which I inked up with Picked Raspberry and Cut grass then inked again through a flower stencil.  I stamped Abstract Foliage (3031) around all the edges, stamped Enjoy today (7319) on the tag and stamped Vintage Postcard (8114) on the envelope front.  Added a matching ribbon and here it is....

Stampotique challenge - Text

Oooh time for another challenge over at Stampotique and this weeks theme has been chosen by the incredibly talented Sarinda - this is what Sarinda has to say about her theme.

Sarinda here and I am hosting. I love using text in my work it is a fun way to get texture without a whole lot of work. With that I have a background tutorial for you to try. Click over to my blog Aggregate Memories. Wishing you a very creative and inspiring day.

I decided to use Shoot for the Moon (7114) and Great Moon (3044) - I used distress inks in Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed over some glossy cardstock, spritzed with water, then used the same inks through some sequin waste and a flower mask. It was then cut out in the shape of a large star.  The Great Moon was stamped on some old text paper, cut out and adhered to the star and outlined with pencil.  Cut out some little stars, adhered and again outlined. I then added lines and dots to the edges of the star with black pen, added the quote stamp Shoot for the Moon, added a little star to the bottom of the moon with black cotton and here it is....

Mo Manning Odette

Over at Mo Manning challenge blog there theme for this weeks challenge is Red, White and Blue and because I love this newly purchased adorable image Odette decided to play along.  So armed with my newly acquired Copic Pens (thanks Kate :O - really enjoying playing with them) and greyboard, cardstock, stamps and inks I set to.  I created the background by simply stamping the jumbo stamp by Stampendous - Peony with Salty Ocean distress ink.  The frame was embossed with a cuttlebug script folder.  Red cardstock was used for the pennant shapes by Spellbinders along with matching papers that I've had for some time now and don't remember who they are by (sorry).  Pearls and roses from The Hobby House were added to the banner, the Dance quote was computer generated and here it is....

Decorated wooden spoon

This is what'ss been keeping me quiet for a few days - I've had this idea in my head for decorating a wooden spoon in a 'ballet' theme for some time now and I finally had the time to put it into action.  The decorating of the spoon was easy enough - practising with Copic pens was quite relaxing but the frame - eeks!!  And it still didn't come out quite like I wanted it to so I think another attempt is required - just a few tweaks here and there I think :O)

I've coloured in Odetta by Mo Manning with Copic pens, the wooden spoon was painted cream and then pink ribbon, pearls and flowers were used to decorate it.  The frame is constructed from large lengths of cream cardstock with matching corner flourishes and here it is.....

Stampotique Challenge - Summertime

Well a perfect challenge awaits us over at Stampotique - SUMMERTIME and thats exactly what we are currently getting over here in the UK - beautiful sunshine!!!

Talented designer Carol is our hostess for this weeks challenge and this is what she says about her Summertime theme

"I love the summer time. I love to spend time outdoors especially in the garden where you can sit surrounded by the sights and colours of summer. I used this as my thoughts for this weeks challenge. Whether its the bright summer colours that inspire you, the flowers or just the general lazy feeling you can get from an afternoon in the garden, take this summer and make it into your own work of art. Carol x

I decided to decorate a balsa wood box that I have had in my stash for months.  I inked up a piece of A4 paper with Distress Inks Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans, Spritzed with water, inked again through a flower stencil and a circle stencil and spritzed again.  I then used the  Large Bee (3008) stamp and stamped it randomly on the box, coloured the body with a yellow Prisma coloured pencil and added glossy accents to the wings.  Abstract Foliage (3031) was added around the edge and here it is...

Stampotique challenge - Turquoise and Pink

Woohooo, my turn to host this weeks challenge over at Stampotique and I have chosen a colour theme of Turquoise and Pink.

I love Pink, whether it's a bright fushcia pink or a pretty rose pink - and teamed up with Turquoise well, they sure do make a bold statement!! This colour combination creates a bright, cheerful and a beautiful feminine palette that also reminds me of the 1980's and what a fab decade that was for music!! So break out the pinks, turquoises and not forgetting a splash of black and white and join in with this weeks challenge.

I have made a tag which was first sponged with Peacock Feathers, splashed with water and then used the same ink through a flower template.   I then inked up some paper with Picked Raspberry, again splashed with water, stamped Carols Large Flower (9165) and Small Flower (9166) onto it and cut them all out.  I hand drew the stems and leaves, added Abstract Foliage (3031)  around the edge, added the sentiment A little garden... (9087) and here it is.

We are starting a new challenge month, so please make sure you link up to the new link here.

Stampotique - Sketch challenge

Good Morning - This week the ultra talented  Maria is our hostess over at Stampotique and she has created this fantastic sketch for us to work with. It's a great starting point for a lot of stampers as it takes the guess work out of where to begin.

Unfortunately my craft room is filled with furniture and kitchen items due to us having the hall, stairs and landing, dining room and kitchen being decorated so not only has my time been limited in there but working under the craft desk with 2 boisterous Maine Coon kittens sitting on what I'm trying to make is a nightmare!!!  Here they are looking as though butter wouldnt melt in their little mouths!!!  Yeah RIGHT!!!  L-R  Apollo and Athena

So a very simple card from me this week - I followed the sketch to a T using one of Marias new images -  You give me wings (3712)  Tim Holtz Hearts & Wings diecut and using up lots of oddment papers from my scrap box which is the only box I can get easy access to!! :O(

Can't wait to see how you use this sketch - you can flip it, rotate it, but the main elements should be visible on your creation.  Please pop over to Stamptoque and see what fantastic creations my talented DT chums have created.

Here is a card I  made using the lovely sentiment 'Enjoy today, live for tomorrow and dream for the future' designed by the very talented Maria Sabina Raita

Another card I made this time using the 'Banner' stamp designed by the very talented France Papillon

I covered a MDF heart with gesso, inked it all with distress stains and then added a pair of embossed wings.  The cutest bunny ever :O)  'You give me wings' (designed by Maria Sabina Raita) was coloured with Spectrum Noir pens, cut out and placed on the decorated heart.

Here I have used the 'Home Sweet Home stamp designed again by France Papillon to create a little wall plaque

and finally ... the stamp 'I love my new dress' by Daniel Torrente, coloured in with Polychromos Pencils, cut out and placed in front of a handmade bobbin decorated with flowers and a scissor diecut

If you are just happening upon this blog, you will want to start at Stampotique Designer's Challenge where you can find the master list. From my blog you will want to hop on over to _Kira Nichols blog.
