Stampotique Challenge - Happy

Well its that time again!!!  STAMPOTIQUE!!!!!  This weeks fab challenge 'HAPPY' has been chosen by the very talented Kaz who has this to say about her theme -

"We all have our problems in life, but life is short and we should all find something to put a smile on our faces as often as we can. So whether you choose 'happy' as your theme, your word or you use a technique that makes you smile, show me your little bit of HAPPY!"

I decided to scrap a piccie of my daughter Viki - this is one young lady who makes me very very happy :O).  I started off by sponging distress inks of Peacock Feather and Squeezed Lemonade onto white cardstock.  A few drops of water were splattered on the card and I then stamped Carols Large Flower all over.  Abstract Foliage was added to the edges of the design again in Peacock Feather distress ink and then adhered large pearls to the centre of each flower.  A doily, diecut leafs, diecut heart and letters to spell out Happy were added, then it was just a few Prima flowers to complete the look and here it is.....

Thank You

Thank you so much to everyone who left me comments and sent me text messages regarding Duke.  I really do appreciate every single one of them.  Duke's page was also featured on The Color Room so that feels like a little tribute to him.

Thank you xxx

Stampotique Challenge - New Year Resolution

This weeks theme over at Stampotique Challenge has been set by the extremely talented Jane and this is what Jane has to say about it:-
We all make New Years resolutions..and I make many!  I am asking you to use your New Years resolution as your "inspiration" this week on your creation "Stampotique style".  It can be any!

Just keep it in mind when you create your card, altered object or journal pages.  One of my resolutions is to learn as much as I can about art journaling and that includes "letting go of insecurities".  I want to take pictures and record my life's events, paint when I feel the need and journal about what ever I feel.

I think Stampotique stamps go hand in hand with art journaling so why not?  Get going and show us your stuff!  Have fun!

I created a background with distress stains and Abstract Foliage (3031).  I then created a border using Keep Calm, Smile and create beautiful things (7305).  Smile (6078)  was coloured in with Spectrum Noir pens. And here it is...............  And it will sit quite nicely in my newly made Journal created for the first challenge of the year :O)

Why not pop over and see what all the ultra talented DT have created for this challenge and join in with us.  Dont forget there are two $30 gift certificates up for grabs for the month of January so make sure you reall ALL the rules on the linkz page.

Duke

This is a layout that I created today of my lovely cat Duke.  We had to make that painful decision to end his short life on 3rd January after a chest infection set in.  Further tests and  x-rays taken showed that he had cancer of the liver and tumours in his lungs.  Since he had been diagnosed with FIV earlier in the year, his immune system was already low and he really didn't have the strength in him to fight this time.  We were with him when he went and its of some comfort that we were stroking him and telling him how much pleasure and joy he gave us over the last year. He was one beautiful little fella and we miss him such a lot.

I created this layout for The Color Room challenge which is to use cream, brown, duck egg blue and a little red.

Stampotique Challenge - Journal Page/Cover or Diary/Journal page

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all - wishing you all a very Happy, Healthy and of course a very creative one :o)

Its our first challenge of the New Year with Stampotique and our theme this week is to create a Journal Page or cover or a diary or journal page. I decided to create a journal to store some of the upcoming challenges we have in store for you.  I just used a piece of Tim Holtz Grunge paper which was given a couple of coats of gesso inside and out.  I then used some distress stains spritzed with water on a craft mat and dragged the cover through, added some star shapes cut from an old book, added a Melissa Frances die cut and Maria's lovely Stampotique sentiment stamp, Keep Calm (7305).  I then punched 4 holes in the cover and added some rings, added a pink ribbon to keep it closed and here it is........
